The Spiritual Kind: Mind/Body/Spirit

The Spiritual Kind: Mind/Body/Spirit W/Terri Hendrix

Online Only Class

The mind-body connection is the link between a person's thoughts, attitudes, and behaviors and their physical health. This is a three part class and will come with handouts, champion group discussion, and delve into useful tools to enhance quality of life. The mind body spirit connection is real, and when you understand how it all works you're able to more fully step into your own power. Each week we will focus on one aspect of the connection. You have heard people talk about the connection between the mind, body, and spirit. This simply pertains to an individual’s mental, physical, and emotional/spiritual health.

You have likely noticed that when something is troubling you mentally or emotionally, you actually begin to manifest symptoms physically. Your heart starts racing, you may sweat more than usual, you have a hard time sleeping because you keep thinking about the problem – and you begin to feel lethargic and fatigued. This is when the mind-body-spirit are out of balance. However, when your mind is at peace, you are more likely to be happier, kinder, and more grateful, because you’re not so embroiled from within. Physically, you are relaxed and ready to take on whatever life throws your way. Dealing with struggles is a part of life that cannot always be avoided. Strengthening the connection between the mind, body, and spirit takes effort, so here is how these three factors work together to benefit your overall health.

Bring the family on out to Wilory Farm, in Martindale, Texas. It's an event for all ages! Enjoy the mini petting zoo and paint some Kindness Rocks!

Adults are $20 a piece and kids under 18 get in free! This event includes supplies and paint! Have a blast decorating rocks and help Wilory Farm with their "Kindness Rock Garden."

As the trend of painting kindness rocks has spread, it has many derivatives but remains true to its original intention of spreading kindness. Rocks are painted as a social-emotional learning activity for kids, as well as to support particular charities, events or movements. Sometimes the name of a hashtag or the Facebook group the painter belongs to is written on it as well.

Generally, rocks which are hidden are intended to be picked up, photographed and put on Facebook, and then re-hidden in a different spot. However, different rock groups may have different ideas; some might be asked to be taken as far as possible, and others hidden in the same city or general region. The Kindness Rocks Project encourages people to set up community Inspiration gardens.

We are building a "Kindness Rock Garden" at Wilory Farm! This class is gonna get us started!

All children under the age of 18 must have a parent or legal guardian with them at all times.

About Terri Hendrix:

Recognized by Acoustic Guitar magazine as one of Texas’ 20 essential contemporary singer-songwriters, Terri Hendrix has earned fans worldwide for her singular fusion of folk, pop, country, blues, and jazz, delivered with poetic grace, melodic flair, and plenty of wit and wisdom. Along the way, she’s also co-written a Grammy-winning instrumental (the Chicks’ “Lil’ Jack Slade”), and garnered such honors as a star on the South Texas Music Walk of Fame, the Art of Peace Award by Saint Mary’s University in San Antonio, the Distinguished Alumni Award at Hardin-Simmons University in Abilene, and induction into the Women’s Hall of Fame in San Marcos, Texas. Her master recordings and archives are housed at the esteemed Wittliff Collections at Texas State University. Embodying Texas’ independent spirit, this classically trained vocalist and virtuoso guitar, mandolin, and harmonica player has done it entirely on her own, releasing every album since her 1996 debut on her Wilory Records label — often using a fan-financing model she developed years before crowdfunding arrived.

"The Artist Way," by Julia Cameron is not exclusively about writing! It is about discovering and developing the artist within whether a painter, poet, screenwriter or musician but it is a lot about writing. If you have always wanted to pursue a creative dream, have always wanted to play and create with words or paints, this book will gently get you started and help you learn all kinds of paying-attention techniques; and that, after all, is what being an artist is all about. It's about learning to pay attention." — Anne Lamott
